Course Content

1. Hair & Skincare

This module looks at the anatomy and physiology of the hair as well as the scalp. This is important when performing different services for clients as the stylists needs to ensure that the hair and scalp is treated correctly.

2. Shampooing, Conditioning & Treatment of the Scalp & Hair

Learn the difference between cleansing the hair with different shampoos and condition or treating the hair with different conditioners or hair masks. This module includes the chemistry of products as well as the importance of ingredients found in different hair products. This ensures that the stylist is able to treat the hair with the best knowledge of products. This is both a practical and theory module.

3. Styling of Hair

This module is for creating a hairstyle, hairdo, or haircut, this typically refers to the styling of hair, usually on the human scalp. The fashioning of hair can be considered an aspect of personal grooming, fashion, and cosmetics, although practical, cultural, and popular considerations also influence some hairstyles. This is both a practical and theory module.

4. Cutting of Hair

Haircutting, also known as hair shaping, is the process of cutting, tapering, texturizing and thinning the hair using any hair cutting tools in order to create a desired shape. The hair is cut at different angles certain angles to achieve a gradient cascading style. Tapering  or feathering is a technique used to shorten the hair in a graduated effect. This is both a practical and theory module.

5. Colouring of Hair

Hair colouring, or hair dyeing, is the practice of changing or tinting the natural hair colour. The main reasons for this are cosmetic: to cover grey or white hair, to change to a colour regarded as more fashionable or desirable, or to restore the original hair colour after it has been discoloured by hairdressing processes or sun bleaching. This is both a practical and theory module.

6. Provide Chemical Hair Treatments

Chemical relaxers use extremely high heat and chemicals to break hair bonds. The stylist is then able to reset the hair into a permanently straight or curly configuration. Chemical relaxers or chemical hair treatments are permanent, and last until your hair grows out.

7. Maintain Professional Customer Service

Customer service is the act of providing support to both prospective and existing customers. Customer service professionals commonly answer customer questions through in-person, phone, email or social media interactions and may also be responsible for creating documentation for self-service support. This is an extremely important module as excellent customer service, ensure your business will be a success.

8. Communication & Sales

During this module, students learn that effective communication is instrumental in closing sales and maintaining healthy relationships with existing clientele as well as building a potential client database for a successful business.
